| Attic & Roof Ventilation

Attic venting is crucial to the function and structure of your roof. Without proper ventilation, hot air and moisture can accumulate in the attic leading to structural damage and hazardous living conditions.

Also, when the roof gets too hot it can hold on to moisture causing both roof and attic damage. A roof that is properly ventilated will add years of life to your roof, drastically lower cooling costs, and keep your home safe and comfortable.

Depending on the needs of your building and structure of your roof, there are two key aspects of roof ventilation: intake and exhaust. Both act as a facilitator to direct hot air out and cool air in to keep the temperature in the attic consistent. They both come in powered forms which is helpful in areas that have very little wind.

Intake

Intake vents allow cool, fresh air to enter the attic space. Types of intake vents include:

✓ Individual Soffit Vents

✓ Continuous Soffit Vents

✓ Eave and Drip Edge Vents

Exhaust

Exhaust vents are meant to release stale, hot air out of the attic. Because of this they are located on higher areas of the vent. Examples of exhaust vents are:

✓ Ridge Vents

✓ Static Vents

✓ Gable-end Vents

Each roof and attic will have specific needs for optimal ventilation. At Southern States Home Pros, our professional team has the knowledge and expertise to assess your home and guide you to the ideal combination of intake and exhaust venting to keep your roof and attic safe plus saving you money on heating and cooling costs throughout the year.
